About

The Department of Vyakarana, a part of the School of Sanskrit Studies of Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University was established in the year of 2023. Recently the Department started Four Years Shastri (B.A) Programme with intake capacity of 25 students and Two Years Acharya (M.A.) Programme with intake capacity of 55 students. Dr. Chiranjeevi Adhikari is serving as the Head of the Department (I/C) since May 2023. Dr. Adhikari joined the University in the Department of Traditional Sanskrit as an Assistant Professor in Vyakarana in January 2021. Later the Department of Traditional Sanskrit was split to three departments i.e., Sarvadarshana Department, Vyakarana Department and Nyaya Department.

The Vyakarana is prominent among Sanskrit subjects and the mouth of six vedangas. The famous sentence is “मुखं व्याकरणं स्मृतम्“. In order to make this department best among others, a lot of programmes are scheduled for upcoming days, some of them are seminars, lecture programmes, monthly Vakyartha Sabha, training for competitive examinations, participation of departmental students in debate competitions in various institutions across the country, and a lot more.

  • Participated in the workshop on Development of MOOCs/Online Courses, organized by the CIQA, KKHS Open University, Guwahati on 16th December, 2022.

2 years		Candidates with Bachelor degree in Sanskrit (Major/ Honours) from any University recognized by UGC with minimum 40% can apply for the course or Sanskrit as a subject in pass course with a minimum 45% from any recognised University or, Shastri (equivalent to Bachelor Degree) from any recognised University for MA in Sanskrit.

4 Years		Candidates passed in the HS (10+2 pattern), or equivalent examination in Arts / Science / Commerce. or, Madhyama /Prak Shastri from any recognised University / Board.

The Department has started Ph. D. programme from the academic year 2021-2022. Presently two students are pursuing Ph. D.
