About the Department
The Department of Yoga Vigyan is a growing academic department dedicated to the study, practice, and promotion of Yoga as an integral part of India’s ancient knowledge tradition. The department aims to preserve the rich heritage of Yoga while exploring its relevance in contemporary education, health, and society.
The department provides students with both theoretical knowledge and practical training in Yogic philosophy. Through a balanced academic environment, students are encouraged to develop physical well-being, mental clarity, discipline, ethical values, and self-awareness.
Inspired by the timeless ideal, “योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्” — “Yoga is excellence in action” (Bhagavad Gita 2.50), the department encourages students to cultivate discipline, self-awareness, compassion, and social responsibility through the practice of Yoga.
The Department of Yoga Vigyan actively engages in research, seminars, workshops, extension activities, and community outreach programmes to spread awareness about the relevance of Yoga in modern life. Special attention is given to the role of Yoga in health promotion, education and overall human development.
