Basic Profile

Dr. Nandan Kumar Tiwari is Currently working as an Associate Professor and HOD in the Department of Sanskrit
Jyotish, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University at Nalbari, (Assam)

Dr.Tiwari Served (From 03.12.2016 to 7.01.2026) as Senior Assistant Professor and Head of the Department in the
Dept. of Vedic Jyotish – Bhartiya Karmkand at School of Humanities, Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani. He
pursued the UG & PG in Ganit Jyotish from the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He has also qualified UGC-NET
in Sanskrit Traditional Subjects (Jyotish) and accomplished his Ph.D on the Topic – “Makrandprakashsya
Samikshnam” from Banaras Hindu University. With fourteen (14) years of experience in academic industry in Higher
education institutions i.e. from 2012 to 2026 he fulfilled the entire roles and responsibilities with full on effort and
dedication.
Dr. Tiwari’s area of Specialization is Ganit Jyotish. He has been designing and preparing Course materials in
Distance mode of learning since last Ten years. Besides this, he has also edited Fourty five (45) books and also
written above two hundred (200) Units for the UG & PG level Programme of Jyotish & Karmkand. He not only
accelerated the development of Jyotish Dept. but also introduced Diploma in Jyotish, Certificate in Jyotish, UG in
Jyotish (as one of the Subjects), UG in Karmkand (as one of the Subjects) PG in Jyotish, and Ph.D in Jyotish
Programmes in the University.
Dr. Nandan Kumar Tiwari holds the key role in the first ever introduction of PG programme in Jyotish
through ODL Mode education in India wherein he solely performed the entire course planning, designing and
preparation of the course materials(SLM), signifying a proud remarkable mark in accelerating the Jyotish
academicia throughout the country.
He has presented over 50 Academic papers in various National and International Conferences and Seminars. Dr.
Tiwari has also completed PG Course in Sanskrit from UOU, one Year Diploma Course in English and one Year
Diploma Course in Yoga from BHU. He is presently working as the Head of The Department of Jyotish in UOU. He is
also shouldering the additional responsibility of Coordinator of the BLIS in UOU. He prepared SILM of BLIS (One
Year Programme).

   Project Title – “A critical Study on the SuryaSiddhanta – For almnac Purpose.” This project was
   submitted in July 2012.
