The Department of Sanskrit Mīmāṁsā at Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University was established in 2024. The aim of opening the Department of Mīmāṁsā is to promote the systematic study and research of Mīmāṁsā school of Indian Philosophy, focusing on Vedic interpretations, principles of Dharma and ritual traditions. The Department seeks to preserve traditional knowledge while fostering research, teaching and interdisciplinary engagement in Sanskrit and Indian Philosophy. The Department is going to introduce a Six Months Certificate Course in MīmāṁsāPraveśaḥ in hybrid mode soon. The Department will also introduce Four Year under-Graduate Programme (FYUGP), Two Year Post Graduate Programme (PG) and Ph. D. Programmefrom the upcoming session (2025-2026).
Dr. Champak Kalita (M.A., M. Phil., Ph. D., B.Ed.), has been serving as an Assistant Professor and Head (i/c) of the department. The Department has been trying its level best to fulfill its primary objectives.

Research Interest: Indian Philosophy specially Mimamsa Philosophy. Research Experience(s): -> M. Phil : Completed from Gauhati University, Guwahati in the year 2007. The Title of the Research work is “A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE THEORY OF CAUSATION IN NYAYA-VAISESIKA AND ADVAITA VEDANTA” -> Ph.D.: Completed from Gauhati University, Guwahati in the year 2016. The Research Work entitled “VACASPATI MISRA’S CONTRIBUTION TO NYAYA PHILOSOPHY- A STUDY”. -> Worked as a Project Fellow in the Department of Sanskrit, GU in the Project “Influence of Vedas, Epic and Puranas on the Society, Culture and Literature of North-East India” under UGC (SAP) DRS-I Programme from 10.08.2012 to 31.03.2016. Teaching Experiences: -> Working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sanskrit Mimamsa, KBV Sanskrit & Ancient Studies University, Nalbari from December, 2024 till date. -> Worked as a Classical Teacher in Sanskrit, in Panbari High School, Panbari from August, 2021 to December, 2024. ->Worked as an Academic Consultant in the Department of Sanskrit Sahitya, KBV Sanskrit & Ancient Studies University, Nalbari from August, 2016 to August, 2021.
