The Department of Philosophy was established in the year 2015. Since its inception the department is imparting knowledge of different areas of Philosophy. Presently, the Department is having four permanent learned and hardworking faculty members and one guest faculty. The Department is presently offering M.A., M. Phil. and Ph. D degree programmes in Philosophy.From this academic session, the department is also offering UG programme in Philosophy.

Research
The Department has started M. Phil and Ph. D programme from the academic year 2021-2022. Presently one student is pursuing M. Phil. and seven numbers of students are pursuing their Ph. D programme.

Academic activities:
The Department of Philosophy has its mission to impart quality education to all students with a goal to build the comprehensive personality of the students based on human values. To achieve the goals and objectives and for the overall development of the students, the department also arranges Internal test, Tutorial class, Remedial class, Departmental seminar, Talks, Group Discussion, Lecture Programme, and Symposium etc.

Special Lecture Programme: 2022
The department of philosophy, KBVS AS University, Nalbari successfully organised a Special lecture programme on theMedical Ethics in the ICT class room, dept. of Philosophy on 23rd December, 2022. Dr. Padmaja Barua, Professor, department of Physiology, GMCH, Guwahati was invited as resource person and shehad deliveredalecture on various issues of medical ethics.
World Philosophy Day: 2022
The Department of Philosophy, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Nalbari successfully observed the World Philosophy Day2022 on 17thNovember, 2022 in the ICT class room. Dr. Bikash Bhargab Sarma, Associate Professor and HoD, Department of Philosophy had delivered a lecture on the topic The Human of the Futureas resource person.
Observation of Guru Nanak Jayanti: 2022
The Department of Philosophy, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Nalbari successfully observed the Guru Nanak Jayanti, 2022on 7thNovember, 2022 in the ICT class room. A good number of students and faculties delivered their speech on the life and philosophy of the Sikh Guru.

V. Institute of Sanskrit Studies, Bangalorehad delivered the Invited Lecture as a resource person on Philosophy of Vedanta with special reference to Vivekasuramoni.

Baruah, IIT Ropar, Prof. Raghunath Ghosh, University of North Bengal, Dr. BhaskarjitNeog, JNU, Prof. Subhra Nag, Assam University, Dr. Arup Jyoti Sarma, Tripura University, Prof. Nirmalya Narayan Chakravorty, Rabindra Bharati University, Dr. Shakuntala Bora, Guwahati Universityand Prof. Sujata Purkayastha, Guwahati University had delivered their lecture as invited speaker on different dimensions of Indian Philosophy.

Prof. Bijoy H. Boruah, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi, Prof. Nirmalya Narayan Chakraborty, Department of Philosophy, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and Prof. Daniel Raveh, Department of Philosophy, Tel Aviv University, Israel had delivered lecture as invited speaker on the theme-Existential Crisis during Covid-19 Pandemic.
National Webinar: 2020
The Department of Philosophy, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Nalbari successfully organized a One Day National Webinar on Ethics during Covid 19 Pandemic on 24th July 2020 in association with IQAC. Prof. Xavier P. Mao, Department of Philosophy, NEHU, Shillong, Dr. Pius V. Thomas, HoD, Department of Philosophy, Assam University, Silchar and Dr. Bhaskarjit Neog, Centre for Philosophy, JNU, New Delhi had delivered their valuable lectures as invited speaker.
National e-Symposium: 2020
The Department of Philosophy, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Nalbarisuccessfully organized a One-Day National e-Symposium on Gender Equality in Changing Socio-Cultural Norms on 12th August 2020 in association with IQAC. Prof. Sashinungla, Department of Philosophy, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Prof. Subhra Nag, Department of Philosophy, Assam University, Silchar and Dr. Amrita Banerjee, Department of Humanities and Social Science, IIT Bombay had joined as invited resource person.
Academic Lecture: 2019
The Department of Philosophy, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Nalbari successfully organised a lecture programme on Mathematical Logic on 17th May, 2019 in the department. Prof. Dilip Kumar Sarma, Former Professor, Department of Mathematics, Cotton University was present in this Academic Lecture as the resource person.
World Philosophy Day: 2019
The Department of Philosophy, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Nalbari successfully observed the World Philosophy Day2019 on 11th February, 2020 in the University Conference Hall. Dr. Pius V Thomas, HoD, Department of Philosophy, Assam University joined as resource person and delivered a lecture on Cosmopolitan World Vision: Indian Traditions.

ICPR sponsored Periodical Lecture: 2017
The Department of Philosophy, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Nalbari successfully organised the ICPR, New Delhi sponsored Periodical lecture on 22nd February, 2017 in the University Conference Hall. Prof. Sauravpran Goswami, Former HOD, Department of Philosophy, Gauhati University had delivered the periodical lecture on the topic Environmental Ethics as the resource person.

The Department of Philosophy, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Nalbari successfully organised a lecture programme on Philosophy of Science on 5th February, 2016 in the University Conference Hall. Prof. Pradip Khataniar, Former Professor, Department of Philosophy, Cotton University was present in this Academic Lecture as the Resource Person.

The Department of Philosophy, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Nalbari successfully observed the World Philosophy Day2016 on 21st February, 2017 in the University Conference Hall. Prof. Archana Barua, Department of Humanities and Social Science, IIT Guwahati and Prof. Nilima Sarma, Former HOD, Department of Philosophy, Gauhati University haddelivered their lectures as resource person on Medical Ethics and Self and its other.
Extension Activities:
Since its inception, the department of Philosophy is playing a vital role in performance of various extension services. The students as well as the faculty members of the department are always rendering their valuable services to the extension activities.
Plantation Drive
The Department of Philosophy has been taking initiative to make the University campus green. In this connection, the students of the department are sincerely engaged in various serial plantation drives guided by the faculties of the Department from time to time. The programme has been continuing since 2016. The department has been conducting Plantation Programme inside the University campus in connection with every academic programmes. The Plantation has been highlighted as the best practice of the department to contribute to a greener university.
Pre-examination Training Programme:
The University administration has entrusted the responsibility to the department of Philosophy as a Nodal Department to conduct a Pre-examination Training Programme for the students. The programme is running smoothly under the leadership ofprogramme co-ordinator Dr. Tapan Talukdar, Assistant Professor of the department since 2019. The course includes various lectures on different dimensions of competitive examinations especially NET/SLET and other competitive examinations.
Departmental Publications
The Department of Philosophy has its own publication named ABHIGNANAM in the form of a Wall Magazine. It is published every year by the students under the guidance of the faculties of the Department.
The Department of Philosophy has another yearly publication named DIDRIKSA in the form of a Hand Written Magazine. The magazine reflects the thoughts and literary skills of the students.
