About the Library

With its commitment to become a substantial contributor in the field of knowledge production and dissemination, the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University started the University library on 10th September, 2013, in its temporary campus located within the premise of Nalbari College. With the University shifting to its permanent campus at Namati area, Nalbari in the year 2015, the permanent building of the library was laid down. The University library is being used by the students, teachers and other visitors since its inception. Being a library of a Sanskrit University, it has been catering to various needs of the students, teachers, researchers and other enthusiasts with special emphasis on Sanskrit based Indian knowledge system. The University is committed to make it a repository of texts, rare books, manuscripts, Sanskrit and Shastric collections along with a substantial number of books and journals for modern disciplines for offering a blend of literary sources, both oriental and occidental.
Though in its infant stage, currently, the library has a collection of around 9000 books, 5 periodicals and around 300 dissertations. The University Library has provided the readers with selected journals, magazines and newspapers across Sanskrit, Hindi, English and Assamese Language. The University library also has Manuscript repository and display boxes with a number of manuscripts that are kept open for visitors. As part of its audio visual resources, the University has also stored CDs and DVDs for studying Vedas.
The Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University Library is Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) enabled with SOUL (Software for University Libraries) 2.0.
The Library is maintained and monitored by a Library Committee. The students are issued a Library Card for Issue and Return of books. A Logbook is maintained for Issue and Return of books by the teachers of the University.
